'OLD STOCK' OREGON SUNSTONE
(piedra del sol de oregon)

A lot of beautiful Oregon Sunstones, mined in the early 1970's. Legally declared a gemstone by the federal government in the 1970’s and then becoming the official state gemstone of Oregon in 1987. Oregon is the only place in the world where these rare red labradorite gemstones can be found.

Oregon Sunstones are feldspar crystals formed in lava flows in southeastern Oregon. The copper in Oregon Sunstone makes it stand out uniquely from all other forms of sunstone worldwide. The coppery reflection known as a Schiller or sheen effect. The varying amounts of copper cause the stones to range in color from water clear to yellow, to many shades of red and pink - there is also an extremely rare blue or green sunstone as well. Some stones also contain from two to four colors.
